Lizards

Posted on

Much to the amusement of my friend Heidi, she watched as I ran around getting excited about the mass of Lizards we found while roaming Funchal, Madeira and embarrassingly squealed with delight. Locals must have thought I was mad. I’m pretty much a fan of most reptiles and I had hoped to see some Lizards at some point during our trip around Spain and the canary Islands. Here’s my collection of Lizardy photos.

Our Red-Breasted Friend

This little Robin follows my dad around as he’s working in the garden, he’s been hanging around on occasions for quite a while now so as he was sitting in a bush in the front garden singing to me I ran back indoors and grabbed my camera. It’s amazing how he can be so trusting by approaching humans like that.

Paignton Zoo

Paignton zoo is another of my favourite places to visit when I’m in Devon and definitely my favourite zoo in the UK. It’s not the biggest zoo which makes it more appealing to me. There’s nothing worse than visiting a big zoo and feeling like giving up half way around. Here are just a few photo’s from my recent visit, the highlight being the desert habitat created inside a giant glass house where you will find tropical birds, lizards, snakes etc. The birds fly around freely and if your lucky you can capture some amazing photo’s of them. check out Paignton Zoo’s website for more details http://www.paigntonzoo.org.uk/

Living Coasts

While I was in Devon, I visited one of two of my favourite places. Living Coasts is a coastal zoo in Torquay and I spent quite a lot of time there a couple of years ago. Their main attraction is the penguins on penguin beach where they are free to roam where they please and where you can get up close and personal (avoiding physical contact). Besides the penguins they have various species of sea birds, otters, fur seals and an aquarium. It doesn’t take long to walk round but it’s worth staying longer to watch all the feeds and talks especially the fur seals. If you plan on visiting yourself check out the website for more information first http://www.livingcoasts.org.uk/

Disneyland Paris – The Scenic Bits

Here’s a few picturesque Photographs that I took while walking too and from the park.

I was surprised to see how much wildlife Disneyland attracted. I noticed that they had bird boxes located around the park with active residents and their babies. I couldn’t resist taking photo’s of the Geese though 🙂
