Something to look Forward to

Posted on

So it’s coming to the end of my first week back at work since getting back off holiday and I couldn’t be more excited for the weekend. It’s not over yet though! Tomorrow I have a two-hour trek to a conference to look forward to, (Can you detect a hint of sarcasm in that sentence?) but at least it gets me out of the work place for the day and they feed me 🙂

On a brighter note, West End Live have finally announced their 2012 line-up and schedule. Anyone that knows me, knows I love my musicals and this is an event I’ve been looking forward to since last years. For those of you who haven’t a clue what I am talking about, I shall explain. West End Live is an annual 2 day show-casing event where shows from the West End perform a selection of songs on a big stage in London’s Trafalgar Square for the general public. Whether they be old favourites or new and upcoming, this years performances come from every West End musical.

Random Days are the Best!

Posted on

Hello there Blog masters! thought I would check in and tell you a little about how my Easter weekend has been so far! Firstly I’d like to thank Jesus for the four days off work… its much appreciated! I’m currently listening to the awesome new Lostprophets album which has been long-awaited. It’s good to have them back on the scene and I can’t wait to see them perform again next month.

I’m eagerly getting through the second season of the Vampire Diaries but I don’t want to come to the end of it. I just can’t get enough of Damon Salvatore 🙂 the story lines are as exciting as ever and the intensity quite often leaves me holding my breath. Elena quite clearly needs to get it on with Damon… we all love a bad boy!

My holiday wardrobe is almost complete. A major shopfest on Friday turned out to be successful although I did start off by thinking that it was going to be a pointless trip… maybe I should think like that every time I go shopping as when I go feeling optimistic I often can’t find anything I want. Just a few more things to get now and then I’m done.

I’m loving the early birthday present that my mum presented me with. Although my birthday isn’t for another couple of months I wasn’t going to complain. I can honestly say that the geek in me truly came out when I clapped eyes on my new Marvel bag. I can now carry my London Film and Comic con photo shoot pictures around with me in style in July.

Yesterday was quite random. Myself and my friend Mandy decided to go for lunch and to see a film in good old London town but we only managed to do the lunch part. The rest of the day/night turned into a kind of pub crawl instead. We started off at the Intrepid Fox, a rock/metal bar that played anything from Wednesday 13 to Evanescence. Then moved onto a small bar called the Crobar in Soho which seemed a little more hardcore and played a lot of heavy metal. Both bars I felt comfortable in, it was my kind of thing. I might actually review them at a later date. After that we went for a drink in the Sussex, had an expensive cocktail in Detroit and ended the evening in the Spice of Life.  Then feeling a little peckish I stopped in Subway to get a veggie patty before heading home completely sober 🙂 The best days are the random unplanned ones.

Here Comes the Sun!

Although I was wishing that I didn’t have to go to work this morning, there remained a certain spring in my step as I glanced out of the window while getting ready. That Monday morning feeling after a fab weekend was just made better by the sunshine. As I walked to work I noticed how beautiful the blossom on the trees looked against the bright blue sky. It was also nice to walk home from work in the daylight… it seemed forever ago that I could do that. So I just wanted to say welcome back sun 🙂

So I had a pretty awesome weekend. It began with a spot of holiday shopping which is no where complete as yet but I’m glad I made a start. A spur of the moment trip to the cinema on Saturday evening with my 13 year old niece presented us with ‘The Hunger Games’ which pleasantly surprised me as I wasn’t really expecting much from this film. I haven’t read the book but people who have tell me that its so much better than the film. I don’t doubt this for a second but as it takes me so long to get through a book I have no intention in reading it. Some people were disappointed because the film was aimed at pre-teens which I expected anyway as my niece has been going on about it for months. I couldn’t help thinking that the whole concept of the film was just a little bit brutal for young people to digest but I was happy that it wasn’t too graphic as I didn’t fancy explaining to my sister why her daughter was having nightmares. All in all I liked the weirdness of it but I wouldn’t say that it’s better than ‘Harry Potter’ as some media have been saying.

I had a lazy Sunday morning catching up with ‘Britain’s got Talent’ leaving myself just half an hour to get dressed and slap on some make-up before running out of the door to catch a train to Camden town where I met my mate Mandy for food, drinks at ‘The Worlds End’ and onto Koko to see Lostprophets perform. It wasn’t a proper gig, they were filming for an album chart show and people who had bought tickets to see them in May had been invited along for free to be part of it. To be honest I wasn’t expecting them to sing as many songs as they did… about eight from what I recall! One being their new single ‘Bring ‘Em Down’ and one of my favourites ‘Rooftops’. Roll on May when I get to see their full show 🙂

The Big Egg Hunt

Posted on

If you’re a Londoner you may have noticed something new. There are 200 giant eggs scattered around town and all of them have different designs. I spotted some while in the West End at the weekend and I managed to take a photo of one that I really liked.

It’s all in aid of a couple of charities stated in this website http://www.thebigegghunt.co.uk/ see how many you can find when you’re out and about 🙂

The past couple of days

After having had such a good weekend catching up with friends in the lovely town of Guildford I’m starting to feel those pre Monday blues. We enjoyed a bit of retail therapy before a pleasant meal at Jamie’s Italian which I must say didn’t really have a wide choice of vegetarian meals on the menu, neither did it state clearly which dishes were vegetarian. To be honest there wasn’t a wide range of food full stop which I suppose eliminates having to spend ages deciding what to have. I had the Honeycomb Cannelloni done 3 ways using aubergine and sun-dried tomato pumpkin, ricotta and spinach. I enjoyed the variety of taste but I wouldn’t have said it was amazing. For dessert I had the ultimate brownie; made with chocolate, raspberry and amaretto with a side dollop of vanilla ice cream. Apart from getting raspberry seeds stuck in my teeth and feeling a tad sick half way through the soft textured desert I quite enjoyed it although it could have done with just a bit more ice cream which accompanied the brownie really well. The service was to a high standard and the waiters were quite humorous and chatty.

Today I had one of my favourite kind of days…a lazy one to which I spent most of in bed watching heroes and Smallville. I have finally finished season 9 of Smallville, it took me a while but I got there in the end. I’m putting off buying season 10 at the moment because I don’t want it to end, its my favourite show! I’m not entirely sure about carrying on Smallville season 11 in a comic book but I might take a look if I see it. I’ve never really read a comic before but there’s always a first time for everything. I’m starting to get more and more into heroes now and its all starting to link together and make a little more sense. I’m only on episode 8 of season 1 but it seems pretty awesome. I bought the first season of ‘the Walking Dead’ and series 1 and 2 of ‘Being Human’ yesterday so I now have plenty to keep me occupied.

I’ve posted in my new creative blog again today… two posts actually! One is another new poem and the other is a couple of photographs of Guildford castle from yesterday’s trip. Please feel free to pop by there and check them out. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
