A Sunny Day in Hyde Park

Posted on

I nearly forgot all about this collection of photos that I took in Hyde Park during the Big IF London Rally. I had been meaning to post them for a while. As you can see I took a real interest in the Prince Albert memorial.

Funchal, Madeira

Funchal in Madeira is a Portuguese island off the coast of Morocco. This was one of my favourite ports of call. So clean and bright… I’ll let the photos tell the story!

Jerónimos Monastery

During our time in Lisbon, Portugal we went on an excursion to Jerónimos Monastery. I love anything with detailed architecture such as churches and cathedrals so I was in my element with my camera at hand. Find out more about the monastery HERE.

Lisbon, Portugal

We visited Lisbon, Portugal on 7th May. This city was impressive although a little rough around the edges. Like with every major city, it has its poorly maintained and slightly unattractive area’s which were covered in graffiti. At one point I thought we were going into mafia territory with its big houses and high walls and gates. You can’t fault some of the architecture though and there was lots to look at in the way of statues and fountains.

We were welcomed into the dock by a fantastic view of the Christ the King statue and the 25th April Bridge which was built by the same company as the golden gate bridge in the U.S. Although parts of Lisbon were very interesting, after having a taster, I don’t think I would return.

The close-ups of the Marquess of Pombal Square was taken through the window of the coach we were travelling in. Information for Marquess of Pombal Square can be found HERE  , Christ the King Statue HERE , 25th April Bridge HERE , Belém Tower or the Tower of St Vincent HERE and Monument to the Discoveries HERE

Vigo, Spain

Posted on

Our first port of call on the cruise was Vigo on the 6th May. This was a disappointing and rather dreary destination partly due to the weather but mainly because there was very little to do or see there. It’s helpful if you need to go shopping for things that you have forgotten to bring with you on the ship but other than that, I didn’t see the point in stopping there.

We were greeted by noisy protesters wanting Europe to help their banks or something to that effect. We had a look around some shops and I managed to capture a few interesting pictures. I’m sure there must be nicer parts of Vigo to explore further out but I have to admit that I wasn’t impressed and would have no intention in going back there. apologies to Vigo residents. If you have your own views, please include them in the comments below. Find out more about Vigo HERE on Wikipedia.
