Ronan Keating Live

Posted on

Here’s some photo’s that I took at the London O2 arena on Saturday 26th January. Ronan went on the road with his ‘Fires’ tour (named after his new album). His fellow band mate Shane Lynch from Boyzone joined him on stage at the end to duet and announce that Boyzone tickets for their 20th anniversary tour later this year will be going on sale on Valentines day. He sang a mix of new songs and old including ‘When you say nothing and all’ and ‘ Life is a Rollercoaster’. Going back to his roots with a bit of pop music has proved to be popular and I completely agree with his decision to do so. I had a fantastic time with fellow fans and now look forward to the long-awaited Boyzone tour.

Something to look Forward to

Posted on

So it’s coming to the end of my first week back at work since getting back off holiday and I couldn’t be more excited for the weekend. It’s not over yet though! Tomorrow I have a two-hour trek to a conference to look forward to, (Can you detect a hint of sarcasm in that sentence?) but at least it gets me out of the work place for the day and they feed me ๐Ÿ™‚

On a brighter note, West End Live have finally announced their 2012 line-up and schedule. Anyone that knows me, knows I love my musicals and this is an event I’ve been looking forward to since last years. For those of you who haven’t a clue what I am talking about, I shall explain. West End Live is an annual 2 day show-casing event where shows from the West End perform a selection of songs on a big stage in London’s Trafalgar Square for the general public. Whether they be old favourites or new and upcoming, this years performances come from every West End musical.

Wicked and Wild

Posted on

Wow! has it really been that long since I last posted? Yet again, there really isn’t any excuse for it so lets crack on. I’m currently listening to Lady Antebellum on my new MP3 player, I decided against getting an overpriced iPod and steered towards the Sony Walkman which seems to do the job well enough for me so now I have something to listen to when travelling to Spain and sitting around the pool.

Apart from the events which have consisted of the consuming of much alcohol I have enjoyed my first ever trip to the musical ‘Wicked’. I was impressed by the amazing set and Matt Willis’s performance of ย Fiyero. Considering I was expecting to see Rachel Tucker as the main role of Elphaba I was pleasantly surprised by understudy Nikki Davis-Jones.

Friday night was a little wild. It started with the much-anticipated Lostprophets gig at the Brixton 02 Academy which didn’t disappoint but went far too quick. We moved onto the after show party at Jamm (not the most impressive venue) where the boys were DJing. I must admit, not all the songs they chose to play were to my taste but I was happy they played a couple of tracks by the Prodigy. One band that played there that night stood out for me, a female fronted metal band called ‘Orestea’, the lead singer had awesome blue hair. We left shortly after Lostprophets did. The night went downhill from there when we entered a crappy nightclub in Clapham which cost ยฃ10 to get in, we danced to a lot of cheese and I had my drink spilt all over me and whoever was standing nearby by some dude who thought he was the bees knees, needless to say that my friend Mandy stepped in and gave him a mouth full… to be honest, I think I had had a few too many to even care. We still managed to get in around 4 in the morning though so it can’t have been that bad ๐Ÿ˜›

I have 5 more sleeps until Disneyland Paris and I’m planning on taking many photo’s, some of which I shall post on here, so until then it’s over and out.

Here Comes the Sun!

Although I was wishing that I didn’t have to go to work this morning, there remained a certain spring in my step as I glanced out of the window while getting ready. That Monday morning feeling after a fab weekend was just made better by the sunshine. As I walked to work I noticed how beautiful the blossom on the trees looked against the bright blue sky. It was also nice to walk home from work in the daylight… it seemed forever ago that I could do that. So I just wanted to say welcome back sun ๐Ÿ™‚

So I had a pretty awesome weekend. It began with a spot of holiday shopping which is no where complete as yet but I’m glad I made a start. A spur of the moment trip to the cinema on Saturday evening with my 13 year old niece presented us with ‘The Hunger Games’ which pleasantly surprised me as I wasn’t really expecting much from this film. I haven’t read the book but people who have tell me that its so much better than the film. I don’t doubt this for a second but as it takes me so long to get through a book I have no intention in reading it. Some people were disappointed because the film was aimed at pre-teens which I expected anyway as my niece has been going on about it for months. I couldn’t help thinking that the whole concept of the film was just a little bit brutal for young people to digest but I was happy that it wasn’t too graphic as I didn’t fancy explaining to my sister why her daughter was having nightmares. All in all I liked the weirdness of it but I wouldn’t say that it’s better than ‘Harry Potter’ as some media have been saying.

I had a lazy Sunday morning catching up with ‘Britain’s got Talent’ leaving myself just half an hour to get dressed and slap on some make-up before running out of the door to catch a train to Camden town where I met my mate Mandy for food, drinks at ‘The Worlds End’ and onto Koko to see Lostprophets perform. It wasn’t a proper gig, they were filming for an album chart show and people who had bought tickets to see them in May had been invited along for free to be part of it. To be honest I wasn’t expecting them to sing as many songs as they did… about eight from what I recall! One being their new single ‘Bring ‘Em Down’ and one of my favourites ‘Rooftops’. Roll on May when I get to see their full show ๐Ÿ™‚
