I haven’t pinned at all over the last few months, mainly because I’d forgotten my password and retrieving it seemed such an effort (it wasn’t though). So I’ve been pinning like crazy over the past couple of days, and once I started I couldn’t stop. It’s kept me up late; to the point where insomnia has set in and made me unsociable around my family. Damn you Pinterest! You can check out my new boards HERE. Now I never really hit it off with tumblr but I’ve decided to start again but using it mainly in conjunction with this blog so we’ll see how that goes.

I’ve been checking out lots of Polymer clay pictures and tutorials and now have an array of amazing idea’s swimming around my head. I’ve taken a particular interest in decorative journals which look like a lot of fun to do. I just need a few more resources before I can attempt to make one of my own.

I can now announce my next trip to Disneyland Paris which I had kept hush-hush for a while as it was a surprise for my niece, Jordan. We leave in a few days time and even though I have already been before, I am more excited than ever…. probably even more than my niece. Expect lots of photos.

From Blogsville to Twitsville

So I was right! and probably for the first time too. I was diagnosed with acid reflux at the doctors today and they have put me on tablets for six weeks and to be reviewed again in 8. The doc said that I may not necessarily be on them forever but some people are. I’m just hoping that’s not the case with me so fingers crossed.

Anyway my reason for posting today is to tell you that I have made a twitter account to go with my blog. I’ll be tweeting each time I put something new up on here and sharing my favourite posts from others’ blogs that I follow as well as general musings and meaningless waffle (well that is what twitter is made for). I’ll also be searching for fellow bloggers twitter accounts to follow.

You can find me on twitter by searching @SherylsBlog I’ll do my best to follow back and tweet updates regularly.

To Pinterest or not to Pinterest

It all began with MySpace back in the day, it was fun, it was exciting, and then it changed, went downhill and everyone lost interest. It currently has an incredible amount of abandoned profiles, in fact I recently deleted two accounts because I hadn’t been on there for 3 years after trying to unsuccessfully revive my interest for the network. Then there was Facebook and we all hailed the genius that is Mark Zuckerberg. It was great, people were finding long-lost friends and family and all was good in the world of social networking. But as the years pass the novelty is wearing off… I mean who wants to know if someone has just eaten Perry Perry chicken for dinner or just popped to the shops for some sugar!  Then you get a friend request from someone you hardly knew at school who made your life a living hell while you were there. Facebook is a bizarre place. It was the last straw for me when they made the last lot of changes, I really don’t see why it’s so necessary to keep making all these changes… if it’s not broken, don’t fix it.

Then along came twitter… a place where you send out short paragraphs on a regular basis read by strangers with the meaningless drivel that you usually put in a Facebook status. So now even more people can read what you’re having for dinner or what time you’re going to bed. Twitter was recently trending R.I.P Facebook to which tweeters were concerned that all the idiots from facebook would convert to twitter. But I’m sure they were there already.

Now we have a new social networking site (as if we haven’t got enough already) in the format of an on-line pin board called Pinterest. From what I can gather the whole idea is that you post pictures that you find on-line that takes your interest to share with others who then comment on them. I heard on the news the other day that there may be an issue of copyright involved with using the pictures on google etc which is completely understandable. Posting Images that you haven’t obtained permission to use is something that Facebook has tried to deter in the past although people still do it. I personally think that Pinterest is a nice idea but it’s completely pointless. Isn’t that what we already do in blogs or reposting pictures on Facebook and twitter? It just looks like someone else is trying to cash in on a new site in hope that they could have the same success Mark Zuckerberg had. I may possibly pass on this one.
