Shane Lynch in Panto

Posted on

This afternoon I enjoyed a visit to The Stag theatre in Sevenoaks, Kent where Shane Lynch from Boyzone played Abanazar in the pantomime Aladdin. I’ve been a Boyzone fan from the very beginning and I try to support the lads individually whenever possible. I’d never been to this theatre before but thought it was a pleasant venue which catered well for lunch which was much-needed by the time my friends and I arrived. We then went on to wait for Shane at stage door who is always very polite when we see him. After a few quick photo’s we went inside to find our seats and warm up again. We were 3 rows back from the stage and had a brilliant view.

Hats off to the producers who made this such a fantastic show and even managed to drop in a Boyzone number. The whole show was extremely funny and full of adult humour, I felt like a big kid. I thought Shane did a fantastic job at playing a bad guy which seemed to suit him better than his good guy roles in the past. I must give credit to the rest of the cast who were extremely entertaining. Andrew Stone played the chief of police, Tony Haygarth played the emperor of China, Jasette Amos played the genie, Robert Pearce played the Widow Twankey, Ant Payne played Silly (Wishee) Billy (Washee), Drew-Levi Huntsman played Aladdin and Lucy Reed played Princess Jasmine.

Dancers big and small also deserve a mention. There was one very little girl who tried her best to keep up with the others, she was so cute bless her. definitely well worth grabbing tickets if you are in the area… I’m even thinking about going again!

Pesto Pasta

On Occasions when I’m fed up with taking the same old things to work with me for lunch, I prepare my favourite Pesto Pasta dish. It’s quick, easy and tastes good. Usually I make a big batch and put it into a few separate containers and keep it in the fridge for when I want a quick snack.

Ingredients:

Pasta (Bows work well with this)

Pesto Sauce ( any brand you like)

Wild Rocket (the herb… not a funky air craft)

Pine nuts

Cherry tomatoes (optional)

1. Boil a large saucepan full of lightly salted water, add the pasta and return to the boil. Cook as required on the instructions. Mine took about 10-15 minutes.

2. Add pine nuts to a small, dry, non-stick frying pan, tossing them every few seconds until lightly browned.

3. Drain the pasta and add the pesto sauce to taste (use as much or as little as you like). Considering the amount of pasta I use, I often put in the whole jar. Below is the brand I like to use.

4. Add the wild rocket and stir thoroughly. You can also add cooked cherry tomatoes for a varied taste but as I’m not much of a tomato lover, I just leave them out.

Pesto pasta can be served hot or cold. Personally I prefer it cold (chilled from the fridge). It’s great as a Uni dish for those who hate long and tedious recipe’s or are a crap cook like myself 🙂
