Sleep Tight Little Angels

Posted on

I was deeply shocked and saddened when I heard the news on Friday. Today I took some time out of what I was doing and fell silent to think of everyone affected by the school shooting in Connecticut, US. 20 Children and 6 teachers were killed at ‘Sandy Hook Elementary School’ in Newtown. I can’t begin to imagine what their family and friends are going through. How you even begin to understand a tragedy like this is beyond me, I just hope they manage to find some comfort in the support so many people around the world are giving them right now.

For the families of the teachers that lost their lives that day protecting the children, I hope they find that a comfort in itself… they died heroes and without their bravery so many more innocentĀ children would have been killed. This particular time of year should be one of joy, and many would have already wrapped up their children’s presents. It’s cruel how lives can change in an instant. My prayers will be with you all at Christmas and I sincerely hope you can find the strength to rebuild your lives eventually. Rest in peace little ones.

Waffle Shmaffle

I was going to wait until I had something more interesting to blog about but I was getting bored with not blogging so I shall do what I do best and just waffle a bit. So far the past couple of weeks have been all work and no play! work has been busy but I’ve managed to keep myself amused in-between. I’ve been concentrating on finding accessories to go with my gorgeous dress that I bought for my brothers wedding in September, I just need to get a white bolero, a bag and some suitable jewelery which is proving to be somewhat of a tedious task.

I have finally finished heroes season 2 and about to move onto the final season of Smallville. I also treated myself to the box set of anime series, Chobits which I can’t wait to get stuck into. The art of anime has always fascinated me but I have never got around to actually admiring a motion picture of it so I’m going to look up some top anime series/films to work my way through.

I never got a response from PortAventura about the complaint I made about the treatment of their horses during a show so I’m now contemplating my next move. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. It saddens me to think that these shows are still going ahead with the poor horses suffering.

One of my favourite bands are coming to the UK in November and this time I have tickets to see them. I have loved Evanescence for years but never seen them play live. You can’t imagine how excited I am. But I have so much planned before then and I’m going to see Blink 182 on Thursday with Mandy which I’m sure will be totally epic.

Anyway, waffle over… I’m sure I’ll have something more interesting to write bout soon šŸ˜›

My First London Film and Comic Con

I’ve been wanting to go to one of these for a few years now but never got around to it. If I’m honest my first experience was a little disappointing due to the poor organisation of the event. I spent most of my time waiting around and queuing and I only had 3 photo-shoots booked so I don’t know how people only going for the day managed to do more than that and some talks as well. I didn’t even get much time to look around all of the stalls but the ones that I did see were really good with items being reasonably priced. I bought 4 mounted pictures of True Blood and the Vampire Diaries at Ā£5 each and a Lost Boys mug at Ā£5. In a way I’m glad I didn’t look at much as I would have spent a fortune on things that I didn’t essentially need.

I liked my photo shoot pictures though and I was most excited about meeting Alex Winter of ‘Bill and Ted’ and ‘The lost Boys’ fame especially as The Lost Boys is my favourite film of all time. Another impressive guest was Gillian Anderson… I used to be a big X-Files fan back in the day. And as I am currently working my way through Heroes, I had to have a photo taken with Hayden Panetierre šŸ™‚

As LFCC had been moved to Kensington Olympia this year, its understandable that things were a little out of sorts for them. Having to organise an event like this must be incredibly difficult, especially when it involves having to get hold of guests. They certainly pulled that off really well as there were an array of guests to please everyone. Depending on next years guests I would definitely give it another go at Earls Court.

The past couple of days

After having had such a good weekend catching up with friends in the lovely town of Guildford I’m starting to feel those pre Monday blues. We enjoyed a bit of retail therapy before a pleasant meal at Jamie’s Italian which I must say didn’t really have a wide choice of vegetarian meals on the menu, neither did it state clearly which dishes were vegetarian. To be honest there wasn’t a wide range of food full stop which I suppose eliminates having to spend ages deciding what to have. I had the Honeycomb Cannelloni done 3 ways usingĀ aubergine and sun-dried tomato pumpkin, ricotta and spinach. I enjoyed the variety of taste but I wouldn’t have said it was amazing. For dessert I had the ultimate brownie; made with chocolate, raspberry and amaretto with a side dollop of vanilla ice cream. Apart from getting raspberry seeds stuck in my teeth and feeling a tad sick half way through the soft textured desert I quite enjoyed it although it could have done with just a bit more ice cream which accompanied the brownie really well. The service was to a high standard and the waiters were quite humorous and chatty.

Today I had one of my favourite kind of days…a lazy one to which I spent most of in bed watching heroes and Smallville. I have finally finished season 9 of Smallville, it took me a while but I got there in the end. I’m putting off buying season 10 at the moment because I don’t want it to end, its my favourite show! I’m not entirely sure about carrying on Smallville season 11 in a comic book but I might take a look if I see it. I’ve never really read a comic before but there’s always a first time for everything. I’m starting to get more and more into heroes now and its all starting to link together and make a little more sense. I’m only on episode 8 of season 1 but it seems pretty awesome. I bought the first season of ‘the Walking Dead’ and series 1 and 2 of ‘Being Human’ yesterday so I now have plenty to keep me occupied.

I’ve posted in my new creative blog again today… two posts actually! One is another new poem and the other is a couple of photographs of Guildford castle from yesterday’s trip. Please feel free to pop by there and check them out. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

A quick visit to blogsville

I know, I know… I haven’t been here for a while but I apologise for that! I have no excuse but the fact that I really haven’t been up to much lately and didn’t really want to bore anyone with my meaningless waffling! I just wanted to let you know I haven’t forgotten about sherylsbloggyblog and I have lots of things that I want to write about in the future. At the moment all is quiet on the life front and while its been cold I have enjoyed some nights in watching seasons 1 to 3 of True Blood which I have become an instant fan of. I am now currently working my way through season 1 of Heroes and I plan to get my hands on ‘The Circle’, ‘Walking Dead’ and ‘Being Human’. I whole heartedly admit that I am a complete geek and proud of it šŸ™‚

As I sit here watching Kerrang I’m feeling excited about a couple of gigs I’ve got booked to see ‘Lost Prophets’ and ‘The Used’ which I’m sure you’ll hear about at some point. I watched ‘Daybreakers’ today which is an awesome film and positioned at number 17 in SFX magazines special vampires edition for the 25 greatest vampire movies on the planet… you will have to buy the magazine to find out what number 1 is but I wasn’t disappointed with the result. Anyway… I’ll be back soon, I promise!
