A Fresh Start!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

As many of my friends are trying their hardest to get over their epic hangovers today, I am thankful that I gave up alcohol over a year ago and stuck to it. I had the usual quiet night in with my parents with absolutely no desire to venture out. I must be getting old. I hope everyone enjoyed the celebrations and stayed safe.

The last few days I have been preparing for 2014 by having a huge clear out. I had binned a lot of things that I had managed to horde over the years and I sorted out lots of things to take to the charity shop. Now I feel like a weight has been lifted and I can start the new year with one less thing to worry about.

I’ve started as I mean to go on by reading, although I’m finding that ‘Zombie Apocolypse’ is becoming very boring now and I’ve already started considering my next read. Not until I have completed this one of course. I’m still determined.

Here’s a quote that we can all relate to which I find quite appropriate for the start of a new year:

‘A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step’

A Chinese Proverb.

Happy New Year!

Happy New YearI start as I mean to go on in 2013 so my first blog post of the year is a creative one. I found the pastels that I hadn’t used for years and decided to put them to good use even if what I display here is a little rushed and scruffy. I’m discovering my creative side all over again and it excites me so from now on I should have some form of artwork to accompany some of my blog posts.

I woke up this morning feeling happy and positive knowing that I already have some fabulous plans for this year. I experienced yet another peaceful new years eve in with the parents watching Graham Norton and the amazing fireworks display on t.v. I surprised myself last night by pouring myself some Baileys and refusing it after 3 sips. If some of you remember rightly, in a previous blog post entitled ‘A Moment in Time’ I stated that I’d be giving up alcohol completely. Those 3 sips of Baileys is the first drop of alcohol that I have had since the end of November and the fact that I didn’t enjoy it confirms that from now on I’ll definitely be sticking to what I said in that blog post.

It’s nearly time to return to normality as I have to go back to work tomorrow. But the break has been relaxing if a little boring at times. It has given me a lot of thinking time and a chance to asses the way I write my blogs and expand my audience (if I can). So wherever you are in the world I wish you a happy and healthy new year and hope that 2013 is good to you all. I’ll leave you with this short quote… Learn from yesterday, Live for today, hope for tomorrow.

Happy New Year

It was a quiet evening for me as I celebrated the new year with the parents and had a drink or two as we sat in-front of the T.V. And that’s exactly how I like it. Some people may think that’s boring but I’m really not one for big parties. I’ve been out on a few previous New Years Eve’s before and its never been that brilliant… something has always gone wrong! Personally I think its far too over rated. It’s refreshing to wake up on new years day without a raging hang over and now I’m getting older it seem’s as though I appreciate my creature comforts much more than I used to. I’ve got a feeling that this is going to be a good year though and for those of you who actually read my blogs, I wish you a happy, healthy and successful 2012.
