Back to Normality

I was back at work today after a nice break and I was in good spirits. My work colleague even commented on how incredibly perky I was. The new year must have some hold over me for some bizarre reason. My day was surprisingly productive and I got a lot done. The break must have helped to clear all the crap out of my head.

I received the Superman pyjama bottoms that I ordered off Amazon today so I was one happy geek. An official DC comics pack of three different designs.I took a photo for you to see ๐Ÿ™‚

Storm Trooper Love and Westlife’s last gig

Posted on

I can honestly say I’m not a happy bunny right now as I sit here in bed nursing a sore throat and runny nose… the dreaded cold is back! I was doing so well with staying in good health but the vitamin C tablets weren’t going to save me this time ๐Ÿ˜ฆ so I’m going to make the most out of this situation and spend my spare time blogging.

I’ve had an extremely busy weekend attending another spectacular West End Live which I’m currently writing a review about. I’m now trying to work out how to find the time (and money) to see all the shows I haven’t seen; especially ‘Sweeney Todd’ before it closes. The In-between sounds like another interesting one. Unfortunately I didn’t get much of a chance to look around all of the tents but I was happy to meet a not so friendly ‘Storm Trooper’. The geek in me came out as soon as I clapped eyes on him at the ‘Forbidden Planet’ tent along with ‘Darth Vader’ who was a bit caught up in holding a member of the public captive. hopefully next year I’ll find the time to explore a little more.

Saturday night came the event all Westlife fan’s were dreading… their last ever concert at Croke Park (Dublin). Myself and friends Hayley and Emma eagerly obtained tickets to watch the live screening of it at the Odeon cinema, Covent Garden. I must say it was the most bizarre cinema experience that I have ever been a part of. Never have I danced, sang, clapped and whooped at a screen before. The whole cinema was on their feet getting involved. I suppose it was the second best thing to being there in person. It was clear to see that the lads were very emotional throughout the concert but they pulled off another great show and made every Westlife fan proud. Now all we have to do is await news of their solo careers ๐Ÿ™‚

Putting Theory into Practice

Since my last post, I thought I should really start taking this journalism stuff seriously and have worked on my very first music review. I did some research on how to write an album review and tried it for myself. As it’s my first there’s probably quite a bit wrong with it, but I’m not going to learn if I don’t make mistakes. I’m not going to be a successful review writer over night. I have created yet another new blog especially for my review and article writing. You can read my review hereย http://sherylsreviews.wordpress.com/2012/04/11/hello-world/ย  I hope to try my hand at a bit of everything from product reviews and pub reviews to film reviews. I plan to be consistent with my writing, I just need to find things to review… I already have a few things in mind.

I’m currently having ‘The Vampire Diaries’ withdrawal symptoms after finishing season 2 and I’m very much looking forward to getting my hands on season 3. Yesterday I watched ‘Paul’ for the first time, the film about the alien starring the perfect duo Nick Frost and Simon Pegg and loved it… I mean what geek wouldn’t! an alien, conventions, Pegg and Frost… what a fantastic combination ๐Ÿ™‚

Random Days are the Best!

Hello there Blog masters! thought I would check in and tell you a little about how my Easter weekend has been so far! Firstly I’d like to thank Jesus for the four days off work… its much appreciated! I’m currently listening to the awesome new Lostprophets album which has been long-awaited. It’s good to have them back on the scene and I can’t wait to see them perform again next month.

I’m eagerly getting through the second season of the Vampire Diaries but I don’t want to come to the end of it. I just can’t get enough of Damon Salvatore ๐Ÿ™‚ the story lines are as exciting as ever and the intensity quite often leaves me holding my breath. Elena quite clearly needs to get it on with Damon… we all love a bad boy!

My holiday wardrobe is almost complete. A major shopfest on Friday turned out to be successful although I did start off by thinking that it was going to be a pointless trip… maybe I should think like that every time I go shopping as when I go feeling optimistic I often can’t find anything I want. Just a few more things to get now and then I’m done.

I’m loving the early birthday present that my mum presented me with. Although my birthday isn’t for another couple of months I wasn’t going to complain. I can honestly say that the geek in me truly came out when I clapped eyes on my new Marvel bag. I can now carry my London Film and Comic con photo shoot pictures around with me in style in July.

Yesterday was quite random. Myself and my friend Mandy decided to go for lunch and to see a film in good old London town but we only managed to do the lunch part. The rest of the day/night turned into a kind of pub crawl instead. We started off at the Intrepid Fox, a rock/metal bar that played anything from Wednesday 13 to Evanescence. Then moved onto a small bar called the Crobar in Soho which seemed a little more hardcore and played a lot of heavy metal. Both bars I felt comfortable in, it was my kind of thing. I might actually review them at a later date. After that we went for a drink in the Sussex, had an expensive cocktail in Detroit and ended the evening in the Spice of Life. ย Then feeling a little peckish I stopped in Subway to get a veggie patty before heading home completely sober ๐Ÿ™‚ The best days are the random unplanned ones.

A quick visit to blogsville

I know, I know… I haven’t been here for a while but I apologise for that! I have no excuse but the fact that I really haven’t been up to much lately and didn’t really want to bore anyone with my meaningless waffling! I just wanted to let you know I haven’t forgotten about sherylsbloggyblog and I have lots of things that I want to write about in the future. At the moment all is quiet on the life front and while its been cold I have enjoyed some nights in watching seasons 1 to 3 of True Blood which I have become an instant fan of. I am now currently working my way through season 1 of Heroes and I plan to get my hands on ‘The Circle’, ‘Walking Dead’ and ‘Being Human’. I whole heartedly admit that I am a complete geek and proud of it ๐Ÿ™‚

As I sit here watching Kerrang I’m feeling excited about a couple of gigs I’ve got booked to see ‘Lost Prophets’ and ‘The Used’ which I’m sure you’ll hear about at some point. I watched ‘Daybreakers’ today which is an awesome film and positioned at number 17 in SFX magazines special vampires edition for the 25 greatest vampire movies on the planet… you will have to buy the magazine to find out what number 1 is but I wasn’t disappointed with the result. Anyway… I’ll be back soon, I promise!
