2012 to do List – Achieved or Failed

Posted on

Just before the new year set in I created a to do list for 2012. I didn’t want to commit myself to new years resolutions because a lot of the time I don’t stick to them. So here’s the moment I find out whether the list has been a success or not.

1) Be more Creative:

I suppose I’ve been more creative than previous years but still not as much as I would liked to have been. I haven’t painted or sketched anything but I have written a lot and that has made me happy. My biggest creative achievement this year was getting 3 of my dark poems published in issue 37 of ‘Death Head Grin’, a monthly online horror, sci-fi and fantasy fiction poetry and artwork magazineย http://www.deathheadgrin.com/12_08/id587.htm

2) Make an effort to visit more places of interest:

I’m not sure exactly what my aim was when I wrote this. I’ve ended up in places of interest but none that I would have planned to visit before hand. I don’t know if that makes sense to you but I know what I’m talking about ๐Ÿ™‚ there are still many places of interest I want to visit, some in London itself.

3) Travel more – even if it’s within the UK:

I would say this has been a success with my trip to Spain, Barcelona, Disneyland and my beloved Torquay and Paignton in Devon. I would still very much like to visit Bath and Canterbury.

4) Watch more films:

With my obsession with Amazon I have definitely achieved this one. I have certainly watched many films on DVD but it’s a rare occasion when I go to the cinema which is something I used to love doing. I’ve also watched a lot of series box sets.

5) Try to get to more rock gigs:

Still more successful than previous years with ‘Lost Prophets’ and ‘Evanescence’. I’m sure there’s been a couple of up and coming bands I’ve seen along the way but it’s not something that is important to me now.

6) Concentrate on theatre shows I haven’t seen:

The Only different shows I’ve seen this year is ‘Wicked’, ‘Million Dollar Quartet’ and ‘Dreamboats and Petticoats’ (tour). I’ve even cut down seeing ‘Jersey Boys’ so much now. There’s still so many more shows I’d like to see though and I’ll continue to get to the theatre whenever I can.

Overall Verdict!

I think I’ve done better than expected to be honest making the ‘to do list’ an achievement and I hadn’t intended on following it. It’s been interesting looking back on what I have achieved and it has given me an incentive to do something similar for next year so watch this space ๐Ÿ™‚

Waffle Shmaffle

Posted on

I was going to wait until I had something more interesting to blog about but I was getting bored with not blogging so I shall do what I do best and just waffle a bit. So far the past couple of weeks have been all work and no play! work has been busy but I’ve managed to keep myself amused in-between. I’ve been concentrating on finding accessories to go with my gorgeous dress that I bought for my brothers wedding in September, I just need to get a white bolero, a bag and some suitable jewelery which is proving to be somewhat of a tedious task.

I have finally finished heroes season 2 and about to move onto the final season of Smallville. I also treated myself to the box set of anime series, Chobits which I can’t wait to get stuck into. The art of anime has always fascinated me but I have never got around to actually admiring a motion picture of it so I’m going to look up some top anime series/films to work my way through.

I never got a response from PortAventura about the complaint I made about the treatment of their horses during a show so I’m now contemplating my next move. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. It saddens me to think that these shows are still going ahead with the poor horses suffering.

One of my favourite bands are coming to the UK in November and this time I have tickets to see them. I have loved Evanescence for years but never seen them play live. You can’t imagine how excited I am. But I have so much planned before then and I’m going to see Blink 182 on Thursday with Mandy which I’m sure will be totally epic.

Anyway, waffle over… I’m sure I’ll have something more interesting to write bout soon ๐Ÿ˜›

Exciting Plans Ahead

Firstly I would like to apologise for my absence from the blogosphere as of late, my life just gets busier and busier. So as I tuck into a cheese and coleslaw sandwich I will begin to tell you what I’ve been up to. For the first time ever I have got heavily into the Vampire Diaries which is pretty much what my evenings have consisted of since I bought the first season on DVD. I know I’m quite slow on the uptake but I say it’s better late than never. It’s awesome and I seem to have struck up a fascination with the character Damon Salvatore who plays one of the blood suckers. He’s a bad guy but a good guy at heart and not to mention hot ๐Ÿ™‚

I am slowly getting through my book when I’m not watching the Vampire Diaries in the evening. I like the fact that the story is set so close to where I live, it makes it more interesting. I might even try and visit All Hallows church in Greenwich to see if it’s how I imagined it to be.

I have booked a long weekend to Disneyland Paris with my friends Gemma and Heidi and I’m currently in discussion with a couple of other friends about a two-week holiday in Spain which I’m very excited about. It’s not until the beginning of June but I have already started planning things that I’ll need for it. I haven’t flown for 16 years and I’m determined to confront my fear of flying this year. Its got to be done if I want to see all these lovely places.

The past couple of weekends I have spent with my friend Mandy and her mum Ann (who you’ll probably hear about a lot in future blogs) watching films, eating take-away and drinking wine. Girlie nights in are certainly the in thing for me at the moment, it beats being out and about in the cold.

Work has been busy, a bit hard going at times but its nice to have things to focus on. I’m also planning on attending a couple of conventions which I will tell you about nearer the time. I couldn’t be happier with how 2012 is turning out so far.

New Years to do List

Posted on

To be honest I think that this new years resolution lark is pretty pointless. I’ve tried making them in the past but I just end up forgetting them or just not sticking to them. So instead of actually making new years resolutions, I’m going to make a short to do list. Being short it will be more doable.

1) Be more creative – the past few years I have lost all creativity. I used to love painting and photography!

2) Make the effort to visit more places of interest.

3) Travel more – even if it’s within the UK.

4) Watch more films – I used to be a bit of a film fanatic but with lack of time and my previous obsession with social networks meant that I very rarely sat down in the evening to watch a DVD.

5) Try and get to more rock gigs – I love many genre’s but it’s been a while since I really let myself go and really enjoyed a live gig whether it be a popular band or some new up and coming artists.

6) Concentrate on theatre shows I haven’t seen – most of the time I obsess over one particular musical (That being jersey Boys).

I’m not going to commit myself to any of them but it would be nice if I could actually achieve some.
