My 2012 Highlights

Posted on

2012 has been yet another great year for me overall and I’m extremely grateful for that. I have had great fun with many good friends along the way. I have managed to do a little travelling with Spain and Barcelona being my main holiday this year which included lots of great excursions. Disneyland Paris was somewhere I’ve always wanted to go and it certainly made me feel like a kid again… everyone needs a little magic in their lives. My long weekend to Devon was a welcomed break from the norm and left me feeling refreshed.

I attended three fantastic conventions with this year being my first experience of conventions too. Bitten 3 weekend, the Entertainment Media show and the London Film and Comic con all had some brilliant guests. Other highlights included seeing Michael McIntyre at the o2, The Harry Potter studio tour and the amazing annual West End Live which I will no doubt be at again next year.

Obviously my brother’s wedding has to be one of the biggest highlights of this year. It was a lovely occasion and one that I will remember for a long time to come. Meeting the coolest couple on YouTube Charles and Ali Trippy at the Contiki meetup in London with my niece was exciting and I hope to meet more of the YouTubers that I watch next year. Seeing one of my favourite bands Evanescence was long-awaited and I’m pleased to say that I have actually finally seen them live.

I tried my hand at poetry and really enjoyed it so I plan to submit more poetry into any online magazines that will accept them and see where I get. I completely failed on my other blogs for reviews and art but I’ve decided to just add everything I do to this blog in the future. Oh, and that book I bought back in January is still unfinished… what am I like!

Evanescence Live at Wembley Arena 2012

Posted on

Last night I finally got to see one of my favourite bands perform live for the first time. I had standing tickets along with two of my friends for Wembley Arena which quickly became a big mistake. Now don’t get me wrong; a bit of pushing and the odd elbow in the back is to be expected in this kind of situation but I couldn’t believe how inconsiderate some Evanescence fans were. I was being pushed so hard into the back of people that I nearly hurt my back. A small minority were friendly and understanding but most were just plain rude and childish. Part of the way through it seemed to calm down a little but was still uncomfortable. I definitely won’t be buying standing tickets for a large venue again.

Despite all this I managed to enjoy the bands performances kicking off with the first support act; ‘LostAlone’ with their weird eighties hair styles. The last support act being ‘The Used’ really got the crowd going and I spent a lot of the time trying to avoid Mosh pits. Evanescence were amazing and Amy Lee’s vocals were on top form but I couldn’t help thinking that this was the last time I’ll be seeing them as they are notorious for disappearing for long periods of time. We shall see though.

Random Days are the Best!

Posted on

Hello there Blog masters! thought I would check in and tell you a little about how my Easter weekend has been so far! Firstly I’d like to thank Jesus for the four days off work… its much appreciated! I’m currently listening to the awesome new Lostprophets album which has been long-awaited. It’s good to have them back on the scene and I can’t wait to see them perform again next month.

I’m eagerly getting through the second season of the Vampire Diaries but I don’t want to come to the end of it. I just can’t get enough of Damon Salvatore 🙂 the story lines are as exciting as ever and the intensity quite often leaves me holding my breath. Elena quite clearly needs to get it on with Damon… we all love a bad boy!

My holiday wardrobe is almost complete. A major shopfest on Friday turned out to be successful although I did start off by thinking that it was going to be a pointless trip… maybe I should think like that every time I go shopping as when I go feeling optimistic I often can’t find anything I want. Just a few more things to get now and then I’m done.

I’m loving the early birthday present that my mum presented me with. Although my birthday isn’t for another couple of months I wasn’t going to complain. I can honestly say that the geek in me truly came out when I clapped eyes on my new Marvel bag. I can now carry my London Film and Comic con photo shoot pictures around with me in style in July.

Yesterday was quite random. Myself and my friend Mandy decided to go for lunch and to see a film in good old London town but we only managed to do the lunch part. The rest of the day/night turned into a kind of pub crawl instead. We started off at the Intrepid Fox, a rock/metal bar that played anything from Wednesday 13 to Evanescence. Then moved onto a small bar called the Crobar in Soho which seemed a little more hardcore and played a lot of heavy metal. Both bars I felt comfortable in, it was my kind of thing. I might actually review them at a later date. After that we went for a drink in the Sussex, had an expensive cocktail in Detroit and ended the evening in the Spice of Life.  Then feeling a little peckish I stopped in Subway to get a veggie patty before heading home completely sober 🙂 The best days are the random unplanned ones.

Happy International Women’s Day!

Is it May yet? I’m asking myself as I sit in bed ill because that’s when I get to go on holiday with the girlies. I think too much when I’ve got nothing to do so I’m thinking of all the cool new things that I need for our two weeks in Spain. I’m currently considering sacrificing an ipod classic for a brand new camera instead, which will most certainly get used more.

So seeing as its apparently international women’s day I thought I should give a few of my favourite females a mention.
