Happy New Year!

Posted on

Happy New YearI start as I mean to go on in 2013 so my first blog post of the year is a creative one. I found the pastels that I hadn’t used for years and decided to put them to good use even if what I display here is a little rushed and scruffy. I’m discovering my creative side all over again and it excites me so from now on I should have some form of artwork to accompany some of my blog posts.

I woke up this morning feeling happy and positive knowing that I already have some fabulous plans for this year. I experienced yet another peaceful new years eve in with the parents watching Graham Norton and the amazing fireworks display on t.v. I surprised myself last night by pouring myself some Baileys and refusing it after 3 sips. If some of you remember rightly, in a previous blog post entitled ‘A Moment in Time’ I stated that I’d be giving up alcohol completely. Those 3 sips of Baileys is the first drop of alcohol that I have had since the end of November and the fact that I didn’t enjoy it confirms that from now on I’ll definitely be sticking to what I said in that blog post.

It’s nearly time to return to normality as I have to go back to work tomorrow. But the break has been relaxing if a little boring at times. It has given me a lot of thinking time and a chance to asses the way I write my blogs and expand my audience (if I can). So wherever you are in the world I wish you a happy and healthy new year and hope that 2013 is good to you all. I’ll leave you with this short quote… Learn from yesterday, Live for today, hope for tomorrow.

A Moment in Time

Posted on

We’ve all had those moments when we wake up with a raging hangover and vowed to ourselves that we will NEVER drink again (until the weekend after). Well I had one of those many moments again this morning after a night out with the family celebrating my mum’s 70th birthday. But this time I’ve decided to put it to practice and test my will power. It’s not like I haven’t done it before. I once gave up alcohol for about 2 years and as I’m not a particularly big drinker anyway, I’m hoping I can stick to it. The only main events I need to overcome is Christmas and the two-week cruise I’m going on next year.

I’m not only doing it because I hate hangovers and I don’t seem to be able to handle them as I’m getting older but I want to be healthier. Sometimes I feel really guilty when I’ve drunk lots the night before, like I’ve done something bad to my body and it’s punishing me for what I’ve put it through. I want my 2013 to be the start of a healthier me.

Wicked and Wild

Posted on

Wow! has it really been that long since I last posted? Yet again, there really isn’t any excuse for it so lets crack on. I’m currently listening to Lady Antebellum on my new MP3 player, I decided against getting an overpriced iPod and steered towards the Sony Walkman which seems to do the job well enough for me so now I have something to listen to when travelling to Spain and sitting around the pool.

Apart from the events which have consisted of the consuming of much alcohol I have enjoyed my first ever trip to the musical ‘Wicked’. I was impressed by the amazing set and Matt Willis’s performance of  Fiyero. Considering I was expecting to see Rachel Tucker as the main role of Elphaba I was pleasantly surprised by understudy Nikki Davis-Jones.

Friday night was a little wild. It started with the much-anticipated Lostprophets gig at the Brixton 02 Academy which didn’t disappoint but went far too quick. We moved onto the after show party at Jamm (not the most impressive venue) where the boys were DJing. I must admit, not all the songs they chose to play were to my taste but I was happy they played a couple of tracks by the Prodigy. One band that played there that night stood out for me, a female fronted metal band called ‘Orestea’, the lead singer had awesome blue hair. We left shortly after Lostprophets did. The night went downhill from there when we entered a crappy nightclub in Clapham which cost £10 to get in, we danced to a lot of cheese and I had my drink spilt all over me and whoever was standing nearby by some dude who thought he was the bees knees, needless to say that my friend Mandy stepped in and gave him a mouth full… to be honest, I think I had had a few too many to even care. We still managed to get in around 4 in the morning though so it can’t have been that bad 😛

I have 5 more sleeps until Disneyland Paris and I’m planning on taking many photo’s, some of which I shall post on here, so until then it’s over and out.
