It’s a Boy!!!

Posted on

…. If you didn’t already know! Only joking, I’m sure you’ve heard the news by now.

I couldn’t let today pass without marking the occasion in a blog post.

Those that don’t care (and believe me there are), there’s really no need for you to be reading this.

Congratulations William and Kate on the birth of your baby boy weighing 8lb 6oz, at 16:24 BST at St Mary’s Hospital, west London. I can’t help thinking about how proud Princess Diana would be right now. Just waiting on a name 🙂

Pray For Boston

News is travelling worldwide of the explosions that happened nearby the finish line of the Boston Marathon (US) a few hours ago. I would just like to say that I am thinking of all those that have been affected by this cruel and senseless act. Stay Strong!

Where has the Time Gone?

Posted on

I can’t believe we are nearly in April already! there just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in a day lately. Shame on me for not dedicating more time to blog but in my defence work has been draining so evening blogging has become a challenge. The weather doesn’t help, which means I’ve not been out and about as much as I would have liked. Luckily events that I have planned for April should help me produce a couple of interesting posts. To be honest, I’ve been dreaming this month away in anticipation of my upcoming holiday at the beginning of May. But have now realised I had better get my arse in gear and begin to plan what remaining bits and bobs I need to get before I go.

I know a lot of people take books away with them on holiday but I’m not a big reader so that was out of the question. I gave it some thought and decided to purchase a couple of poetry books instead. That way I don’t have to stick to one long story that I might get bored with in five minutes. I also wanted something to help inspire me while sitting around the pool. I came across the work of E.J. Stevens and instantly knew that the poems in her two books entitled ‘From the Shadows’ and ‘Shadows of Myth and Legend’ would be my cup of tea and I look forward to reading them.

Now apart from watching a lot of ‘Supernatural’, last night I finally got to see the Theatre production of ‘Les Miserables’ and loved it. Although I still can’t decide whether I like the film or the stage show the best. I thought Tam Mutu’s Javert was brilliant and all the singing was amazing which you don’t quite get in the film but they do a great job none the less. There’s always something about being in the thick of the action and in front row I certainly had that. I would definitely recommend this award-winning show to anyone who is into musicals.

Speaking of musicals! I actually watched the film ‘Hair Spray’ for the first time last night ( I know it’s old now) and wished I had caught that in the West End while it was there. I found it highly amusing. First thing I noticed on the cover of the DVD was John Travolta’s name but I was disappointed that they hadn’t put a photo of him on there. I soon realised that he was, but his character was a woman so I hadn’t recognised him. I honestly don’t know why it takes me such a long time to see these things. For those of you unfamiliar with this film, here’s a picture of John Travolta as Edna Turnblad 🙂

Happy St Patricks Day

Being half Irish, I couldn’t let today pass without wishing all the Irish and those with Irish roots a very happy St Patrick’s day 🙂

There’s no Rush!

I’ve decided to take a break from the poetry this week and rest my brain. That’s why I’ve been quiet. But I have also been suffering from a terrible case of mental block and the more I worry about it the worse it gets. I’m so busy during the day I tend to find it difficult to shut off and concentrate so I may work on poetry on the weekends that I have free. There’s no rush, after all I don’t want to produce rubbish. So I have only one thing left to say to you on this cold evening:

Consuelo Parra – Digital Art

I came across yet another impressive digital artist whose work I just had to share with you guys. Consuelo parra’s creations ooze emotion and energy. Words that spring to mind when trying to describe her work are solitude, silence, Nature, dark, gothic, beauty and contemplation. I’m completely mesmerized by each piece she has produced. Here’s a few of my favourite pictures although there are so many to choose from.

The Lost Dreams - Consuelo Parra

Come, Little Children - Consuelo Parra
