The Veggie Blogger on Blogspot

Posted on

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted here but the good news is that I am pleased to announce my newly ignited blogging passion, the bad news is that I have gone to the other side. I have created a vegetarian blog called ‘The Veggie Blogger’ where I have written reviews and talked about places I have visited relating to the Vegan or Vegetarian lifestyle. I have taken a real interest in Veganism lately and I am currently cutting down on the consumption of dairy products.

All I have to do is work out how to gain an audience like I have on WordPress. I noticed that I have had views but I don’t seem to have any followers. I would love to have an active blog where people comment regularly but it all seems a little more difficult on ‘Blogger’. If anyone has any tips or suggestions on what I can do to reach an audience on Blogger then please leave a comment below.

Post-pals

Posted on

I accomplished my first good deed of 2014 by sending a letter to a special young girl. When I found out about Postpals.co.uk I knew I had to get involved. Post-pals is a charity which enables people to send letters, cards and gifts to sick children who desperately need cheering up. I have chosen a child who I plan to write and send gifts to on a monthly basis. On a more random basis I shall send gifts to other children on the website.

I look forward to dedicating some of my time to help make sick children smile… That’s two of my 2014 aspirations already underway (Make people smile and help some charities). Why don’t you get involved and visit the website yourself. There are people that send letters/gifts from overseas so you don’t have to live in The U.K to take part. It makes me happy knowing that I am somehow making a difference in people lives.

Back to Pinterest

I haven’t pinned at all over the last few months, mainly because I’d forgotten my password and retrieving it seemed such an effort (it wasn’t though). So I’ve been pinning like crazy over the past couple of days, and once I started I couldn’t stop. It’s kept me up late; to the point where insomnia has set in and made me unsociable around my family. Damn you Pinterest! You can check out my new boards HERE. Now I never really hit it off with tumblr but I’ve decided to start again but using it mainly in conjunction with this blog so we’ll see how that goes.

I’ve been checking out lots of Polymer clay pictures and tutorials and now have an array of amazing idea’s swimming around my head. I’ve taken a particular interest in decorative journals which look like a lot of fun to do. I just need a few more resources before I can attempt to make one of my own.

I can now announce my next trip to Disneyland Paris which I had kept hush-hush for a while as it was a surprise for my niece, Jordan. We leave in a few days time and even though I have already been before, I am more excited than ever…. probably even more than my niece. Expect lots of photos.

This Weeks Shenanigans

It’s been all go this past week. Work has been busy and there hasn’t been enough hours in the day to do everything I need to do before I go away. I’ve been spending a bit of time with my niece recently for various reasons, one or two being Dan Howell and Phil Lester. This is where I start from the beginning to avoid confusion. It all started about 5 or 6 years ago when I introduced her to my favourite YouTuber Cory Williams. I then made her aware of some of my other favourite YouTubers such as Katers17, Charles Trippy, ShayCarl and iJustine. Her curiosity got the better of her and she started looking for others… mainly the younger ones as she is only 14. Two of her favourite YouTubers are also BBC radio 1 presenters that have their own show on a Sunday evening. On two occasions I have had to take her to meet her heroes who have a huge teenage following so being a 32-year-old I felt a bit like the odd one out. Fortunately I don’t think anyone noticed so I grabbed a sneaky photo for myself.

Phil, me and DanTuesday night we went to see WWE Smackdown at London o2 arena. This was my first ever WWE live event. Excited wasn’t the word. I shouted so much I nearly lost my voice. It was a thoroughly entertaining night despite the fact that My favourite Wrestler ‘Sheamus’ lost to ‘the Big Show’. I also touched the arm of Roman Reigns (one part of ‘the Shield’) as he walked past me towards the ring, all was good until I realised I had a handful of grease so proceeded to wipe it on my niece haha! It was satisfying to watch ‘the Undertaker’ Beat ‘Dean Ambrose’ but man they are sore losers. After Dean tapped out all 3 of the Shield decided to beat the crap out of ‘the Undertaker’ who has been in WWE for longer than I can remember.

Anyway I’m now all set for my holiday around the Canary Islands with my friends Debbie and Heidi and will be taking my new ipad with me so I can blog when I’m away. Fingers crossed it works. We leave on Saturday 4th May. I don’t know what I’m going to do yet, whether I’m going to make a daily holiday diary or do it some other way. Stay tuned to find out 🙂

Blogging Etiquette

Posted on

There’s nothing worse than seeing a nasty comment on a new blog post that you may have put a lot of thought and effort into. Fortunately I’ve been blessed with a kind audience that like and leave nice comments on my posts which continuously boosts my blogging confidence. Yes I’ve had one or two negative comments since I started my blog around 16 months ago but that is to be expected. Not everyone is going to agree with you. Some people are not so fortunate.

A friend of mine has experienced a lot of negativity on her blog for a while now and it has effected her deeply, to the point where she doesn’t want to write a new post in fear that she will get some abuse thrown back at her for it. There isn’t anything offensive in her content and it baffles us as to who could be so cruel and really quite personal with their responses.

My motto when replying to people’s posts is to leave a constructive and friendly comment. I’ve always been one to avoid conflict, even online. You may not know the person you are replying to, but think about how your comment is going be perceived by them. If I read something that I don’t agree with I simply don’t leave a comment. That’s probably not how everyone works but as I see it WordPress is here to be enjoyed, not to get angry at.

From Blogsville to Twitsville

So I was right! and probably for the first time too. I was diagnosed with acid reflux at the doctors today and they have put me on tablets for six weeks and to be reviewed again in 8. The doc said that I may not necessarily be on them forever but some people are. I’m just hoping that’s not the case with me so fingers crossed.

Anyway my reason for posting today is to tell you that I have made a twitter account to go with my blog. I’ll be tweeting each time I put something new up on here and sharing my favourite posts from others’ blogs that I follow as well as general musings and meaningless waffle (well that is what twitter is made for). I’ll also be searching for fellow bloggers twitter accounts to follow.

You can find me on twitter by searching @SherylsBlog I’ll do my best to follow back and tweet updates regularly.
